Jim Hawkins is running in the 18th Senate District, not the 9th. Website coming soon.
Brief bio: Former managing attorney for Legal Aid Society, married, 2 kids, family has lived in Sumner County for generations, community activist in various organizations including Leadership Sumner, Boy Scouts, etc.
Absolute personal integrity and commitment to justice.

Jim filed on time. He's a Gallatin native, and, until recently, an attorney for Legal Aid of Middle Tennessee. He has a lifelong commitment to public service, and makes a compelling case for the seat. He's a big supporter of education and is eager to bring pre-K to Sumner County, which is currently the sole county in the state without it. I'm sure there are others who can tell his story better than I, but he's a candidate worth watching. In fact the whole Sumner slate - Jim in the Sen. 9th, Andy Allman (former chair of the Sumner County Dems) in the House 45th and Ken Wilkinson in the House 57th - is off to a great start.
Retiring Black, Maggart and Lynn in favor of these progressive voices would be a huge improvement to the quality of the legislature.
We have a great candidate in Jim Hawkins, but he's not on the list. Que Pasa?
Did he file after the deadline was extended? If you have any info on him I'll be happy to include it.
