Sasser: As iron sharpens iron

Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Gray Sasser comments on the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary in this clip from NewsHour last night:

GWEN IFILL:Mr. Sasser, when you watch what happened last night from your perch in Tennessee, does it hurt or does it help your party?

GRAY SASSER, Democratic Party Chair: I think, in the long term, it actually helps. As iron sharpens iron, I think it's very good to have some heated rhetoric in the campaign. ... I think the Democrats remain united. We remain united on expanding access to health care, changing the course in Iraq, and making sure we have affordable energy here in America.

Alright then.

I liked the part where he said that all "3" most likely will get delegates from TN.

He is acknowledging that Edwards is viable in TN.

Go Edwards, Move over Hillary and Barack!

John Edwards is the candidate of HOPE, I will vote for JRE 2008! Join me for real change, not money or media hype, but real change for America.

Well, as evidenced

Well, as evidenced constantly on both TN and Knoxviews, Edwards will do better here than many people think. He'll break the double digit mark by healthy margins, for sure.

And so all too often, we see the politics being covered kind of like a baseball game or a baseball season, that we're so focused on who's in first place, who's in second, are they going to fire this manager, are they going to hire this consultant, that sometimes the media drive us to focus on the fireworks instead of the bigger issues.

And those bigger issues really are, for the Democratic side, is that we're focused on changing the direction of this country. And I think all of our candidates remain united on that point.

Kicks ass. He took exactly the right tone in this, I think. Plus, Sasser's definitely sharpened the Party's message in the past few months.

Proud to be a Tennessee Democrat, for damn sure...
