It sure took the Tennessee papers long enough! The Knoxville News-Sentinel has given Barack Obama a rousing endorsement:
Obama, 46, was challenged early in the campaign for his lack of experience in Washington, but he has deftly turned that criticism into an asset, pointing out that those who got us into war in Iraq and built the deficit had a wealth of political experience.
He also said that his critics would prefer that he "season and stew a little bit more … boil all the hope out of him, so he sounds just like us."
He also has said the central question is not who is ready on day one of the new presidency but who is right - who can build majorities in both Houses.
So now two major Tennessee papers have released their endorsements, the first being the Memphis Commercial Appeal's endorsement of Hillary Clinton. Hey, Tennessean, we're all waiting on you! I'm assuming that endorsement will come tomorrow morning. Has the Chattanooga Times Free Press endorsed anyone yet, are they going to?
The irony with these two endorsements is that if you believe the polls, Memphis is Obama's strongest base of support, while East Tennessee is better for Hillary. Interesting, then, that the endorsements went opposite ways. Anyone have an idea of why that might be?

Just off the top of my head, I'd say that Memphis was operating on a long history of covering Arkansas politics for Eastern Arkansas. KNS decision was more quizzical. As for Chattanooga, they are owned by the same company that owns the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, expect them to be conservative and more so.

Obama endorses abortion. Evil exist. Evil must be defeated. I pray that Obama is defeated by John McCain in our upcoming election.

Obama endorses choice, a right that each of us have. When you sit in judgment of others because they believe something you don't and call them evil is so sad. I hope you really take a good look at the candidates before you vote and not let your hate and prejudices blind you to what's really relevant to the world today.

The ignorance of some people befuddles me. You support Gay rights which is one of the biggest sins in mankind. You support the amalgamantion of same sex, but you are to afraid, of the challenge of color. Do not beat around the bushes using excuses to character a man that is very well educated, to the fact's that he speaks on, and is a religious church going individual.
Prayer should be for the country mishaps, and for better relations, to save our young lost, and our old feebleminded, that are still lost in tradition.

First of all I would like to congratulate President Obama for winning the 2008 U.S. Election. It seems that many Americans supported and love him. His Inaugural made a history not only in our country but also in the world. After his success, the question is. Is he now ready to face all the problems that the Bush Administration had left? The U.S. debt has been increasing every passing year, since massive amounts of debt piled up in the 70s and 80s. Few administrations have taken a serious crack at it, although they'll waste time trying to legislate payday loans. It is shaping up to be one of the most challenging problems that will be facing future generations of Americans. It surprises few that the people that incur this debt upon us are among the most wealthy, and those that have to pay for it are the ones that have to get a payday loan to get by.

Certainly in New York City, his face is on shirts at street stalls and wholesale retailers everywhere. Yesterday, on Union Square in Manhattan, I saw a shirt for sale that said "Obama is the New Black", nothing to say about tones of literature about Obama and the ebook I'm currently reading - Link... More than a political figure, he seems to have become a fashion statement.
