You know, there's really nothing quite like a gambling metaphor to express your empathy for people suffering through devastation.

Did I say "empathy for?" Sorry, I meant "utter disconnection from."

Behold: Compassionate conservatism in action.

You would think that the president had been coached on this after Katrina. Still, the best he can offer in his fake Texas accent is "life is unfair?"

When I first heard that he was going to pray for the victims of this disaster I couldn't help wondering exactly what value that held.

He has no experience praying for little people. His deity grants profit boosts to the corporations that landed him his job. It can't be bothered with trivialities such as ordinary people who have lost what little possessions they had.
