Two More Weeks To March Madness!

In this heated election season, it's important not to lose sight of what's really important--college basketball.

This season is shaping up to be a huge one for our state. There could be as many as FIVE Tennessee teams in the conference. Memphis is playing for a #1 seed, and UTK and Vanderbilt should be locks at this point (barring a complete and utter collapse, which is never outside the realm of possibility for either team). In addition, Belmont and Austin Peay are both winning their respective conferences.

So, I would like to propose a Tennessee bloggers' bracket tournament. I just wanted to post this to a) gauge interest and b) see if yall think we should just keep this among ourselves or throw it open to our Elephant friends as well.

Finally, my first-round shocker pick--#13 Cornell over whoever the #4 seed is. I'm not biased, I swear...

(Cornell's going to get a 13

(Cornell's going to get a 13 seed?)

Barring an absolute implosion, my Jayhawks should get a 1 in the Midwest - I'll take 'em to the Elite Eight at least.

Maybe a 12

I don't know, Ivy League teams generally don't get seeded higher than that. But we're 8-0 in the conference right now, with 6 games left. I'm not confident that we'll win out and go 14-0, but it's possible. If we do, I'd hope they'd give us a higher seed.

Why did you not say UT is

Why did you not say UT is also playing for a number one seed?

UTK and Vanderbilt should be locks at this point (barring a complete and utter collapse, which is never outside the realm of possibility for either team).

At 10-1 in the SEC, with a top 5 RPI, it's virtually impossible for UT to not make the tournament, even if it loses all its remaining games.

Because I'm a Vandy fan?

Haha. No, if UT wins out and wins the SEC Tourney, then they definitely should get it. But the selection committee has a way of putting Duke and UNC ahead of teams that probably deserve it more. Bear in mind, Duke only beat lowly Cornell by 14 points!

"Should get it"

I mean they should get the #1 seed. They'll make the tourney.

I believe that they will get

I believe that they will get the No. 1 seed. I've have more to say after Saturday.

Yes, I'm interested, but I don't know about letting the elephants play......
